This past weekend marked the second ever Brooklyn Beatdown. While not apart of the Capcom Pro Tour circuit, the event did take place under the umbrella of ESL One New York. Rise Nation was well represented with both Smug and MenaRD participating in the tournament.
Both players were able to make it to Championship Sunday, but in very different fashions; MenaRD was able to get there going through the Winner’s Bracket while Smug fought his way through the Loser’s Bracket after losing in the Winner’s Quarter Finals to Keita “Fuudo” Ai.
After guaranteeing Top 6 finishes, both men would go head-to-head with the loser of the match being eliminated. MenaRD’s Birdie would prove to be too much for Smug’s Balrog as MenaRD would be the one to advance to the Loser’s Semifinals. Unfortunately, his run would end there, leaving him with a Top 4 finish.
Be sure to follow Rise Nation on both Facebook & Twitter to stay up to date with everything Rise FGC!
